What was your reason for wanting to ride the Trafalgar Way?

To ride the furthest distance of my cycling career on a varied route, ending in an interesting place, after pushing both body and mind to a new level!

How would you sum up your ride of the Trafalgar Way to a friend?

The biggest, best and most challenging ride to date. The most professional event I have ridden.

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

There are so many.. freezing on Dartmoor, navigating through the night on country lanes in freezing fog in a full moon, Richard (the photographer) making me a much appreciated coffee in Abbotsbury and the support, encouragement and many acts of kindness shown by the whole team at every stop, cycling through Admiralty Arch knowing the adventure was almost complete.. etc..etc..

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way

1. Ride with a friend who you trust and who has committed to the necessary training as much as yourself. I had total faith that if I committed to finish, then so would Tim. 2. Ride two thirds of the distance a week before the event. 3. There is no such thing as over-eating during the event!

What are your top bits of equipment or kit you wouldn’t want to ride the Trafalgar Way without?

A Castelli Gabba 2, Sealskin gloves, Gore Bike Wear jacket, Garmin Edge 1000 with turn by turn navigation switched on.

What bike (make and model) and chainset / cassette set up did you ride the Trafalgar Way with (if available)?

Planet X RT90, Ultegra 34/50, 11-28
